Purpose

When time is short, stakes are high and emotions run deep, many people will avoid dealing with issues around crossed boundaries or unmet expectations.

The ability to have a “courageous conversation” is a key factor in being successful in the current workplace. As well as giving delegates self-awareness and confidence, this one-day workshop will give you techniques and tools when the situation gets stressful or when people are frustrated. Key to the workshop will be learning how to build trust and motivate people to ensure that courageous conversations are not needed. But it is also equips you with a range of tools to ensure that you are fully prepared to deal with them if they do arise.

Objectives

By the end of the workshop, you will have:

  • Recognised the long-term advantages of having difficult conversations.
  • Understood your own barriers and what prevents you from dealing with difficult people and situations.
  • Understood your brain and what happens when you move into “threat state” and learnt strategies for overcoming fears around difficult conversations.
  • Developed clarity around what you want from the conversation and how to think what’s in it for the other person.
  • Recognise the key psychometric personality types and what each of those require from a Courageous Conversation.
  • Learned the “5F model” to give appreciative and constructive feedback.
